Did you request reasonable accommodations from an Airline?

The New York State Attorney General's office has asked for help. They are looking for people with disabilities who have requested a reasonable accommodation from an airline, IN ADVANCE, and did not receive it.

The responses will help to identify what airlines have a trend of ignoring reasonable accommodation requests. It will also allow them to decide how to resolve the issues.

Please call the coalition at (518) 273-1110 and let us know your experience and problems.  You can also mail us at:

CDCAT

P.O. Box 685

Aviation Consumer Hotline!    Picure of Phone handset

The Department of Transportation's aviation consumer disability toll - free hotline  is:

    (800) 778-4838 (voice)

    (800) 455-9880 (TTY)

Both numbers are toll-free calls. Take them with you on your vacation in case there is a problem. There are cases where hotline operators have convinced air carriers to accept service animals and electric wheelchairs on board flights, to stow folding wheelchairs in the cabin and to provide requested wheelchair assistance.

You can order consumer information on air travel for people with disabilities at this number or talk to a person to make a complaint about a problem that occurred.

Air travelers who want the Department of Transportation (DOT) to investigate a complaint about a disability related issue must submit the complaint in writing via email or US post office.

Email:  airconsumer@ost.dot.gov

US Post Office address for DOT complaints is:

Aviation Consumer Protection Division

 U.S. Department of Transportation

400 7th St.  S.W.

Washington, D.C.  20590

Don't forget, you can also call the coalition help line about air travel problems. Should you want to make a formal complaint, or just talk to us about what happened, give us a call. If you prefer to email, make sure to provide as much information and details as possible.

Problem? Complaint? Questions? - Remember that you can always call the Coalition during normal business hours!  If we don't have the answers, we'll find them!
