      FTA Office of Civil Rights

STAR COMPLIANCE REVIEW!

CDTA was selected in January 2005 for a on site  Paratransit (STAR) compliance review by the FTA's Office of Civil Rights. This review was done in July. It will take time for this information to be available to the public so we'll just have to be patient.

We do know that the review team did find problems. We won't know much more till the information is released to us.  STAR is in the process of making a lot of changes.

In February, we told you that the Office of Civil Rights conducts a number of on-site compliance reviews of ADA Complementary Paratransit systems each year.  (Notably, those that they have received complaints about.)  and that CDTA's STAR was selected for this year for one of these compliance reviews.  CDTA is one of only eight compliance reviews the FTA is doing this year.   (Reviews like this cost the government about 50,000 each!)

After the four day stay in July, the Review Team will go over their immediate findings with CDTA so STAR can begin making changes.  They will also submit a report which is PUBLIC INFORMATION and takes about 6 months to actually be available on the net from the FTA's website because it's so much information to compile.  In other words, we'll get to see what the FTA team's findings are at some point.

If you want to read some of the FTA compliance Review Reports that were done in other areas, you can find them at the link:

   FTA Compliance Reviews

If that link doesn't work (It acts up sometimes), just go to http://www.fta.dot.gov and then click on the links below:

 Research & Technical Assistance

(then) ADA

(then) ADA Compliance Review Final Reports

This will bring you to the area where all the Compliance Reviews are placed.  You can read them by clicking on each link.  (Note:  Some popup blockers and firewalls can interfere with your ability to read these reviews. You can temporarily disable them to download the review, then enable the blocker or firewall afterward.)  Some of these are very long so check before printing them.

Look over one or two reviews and you'll see just HOW in-depth they go.
