CDTA Swipers and STAR tickets are now onsale online. This link will take you directly there. We've asked CDTA to add half-fare swipers to the purchase list. Look for it soon.
STAR buses provide transportation for those who have disabilities that prevent them from using fixed route buses. This is available by application from CDTA to people who are approved for the program.

Access Transit is another division of CDTA. It provides those on SSI/Medicaid with transportation to medical appointments through either bus, taxi, ambulette or ambulance. Eligibility is required.
Center for the Disabled has a host of information and services. Residential care, out patient services such as medical and dental (Medicaid accepted) and a warm water swimming/therapy pool that is for use for a small cost. For more information and their vast services, please check out their link. Independent Living Centers are at the core of Advocacy for the disabled community. They assist with almost any imaginable problem. Services range from advocacy, information and referral, independent living skills training, consumer directed personal assistance program and accessible housing information.

The Capital District Center for Independence is Albany's Independent Living Center and has a wealth of information. Services range from advocacy, information and referral, independent living skills training, consumer directed personal assistance program and accessible housing information. The Self-Advocacy Association of New York State, Inc. (SANYS) is a not-for profit, grassroots organization run by and for people with developmental disabilities. Our goal is to help create a person-centered and person-directed system of supports. To further this goal, the SANYS executive board supports self-advocates and self-advocacy groups regionally and statewide. SANYS encourages them to speak for themselves individually and collectively.
The New York State Education Department Office of Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID) promotes educational and vocational achievement for students with disabilities, ages 3-21. It administers special education programs and services in New York's school system and provides supports for families, educators and other staff. VESID's vocational rehabilitation program provides specialized programs and services that assist youth and adults with disabilities in preparing for, finding, and adjusting to employment.

The NYS Office of the Advocate has information from the State of New York on events, and other information, including a database and various on-line pamphlets. Accessibility section of AMTRAK's webpage that provides information on everything from how to schedule trips if you have special needs. Check this information before traveling so you know what's available. Greyhound Bus 's home page and general information. If you look under their Travel Planning category, you'll find a link for passengers with disabilities. Click on that for information on special needs. Your attendant may be able to travel for free if you have need of them during your bus trip. Also, please remember that the minimum insurance given by Greyhound on baggage, which includes any stored mobility equipment, is only 200.00. Remember to insure your mobility aids for the true amount! Know your rights! The American's with Disabilities Act is an important tool in gaining keeping our rights and independence.

The Coalition to Implement Olmstead in New York (CTIONY) is a group of individuals and representatives of organizations who are working together to accomplish the implementation of Olmstead in New York State. Advocates people with disabilities to live in the community with real supports instead of being in nursing homes or other institutions. Supports MiCASSA, Medicaid Community Attendant Services and Supports Act, the bill would allow money that is entitled to individuals to choose where they would receive services. The Partners Disability Coalition is a nonprofit New York statewide cross disability organization providing information and support for public policies that affirm the full citizenship of adults and children with disabilities.
